In 2021, Chartwell Marine was contracted by Humphreys Yacht Design to deliver the structural engineering for the Arksen 85 – a highly sophisticated explorer yacht built for global adventurers. The vessel was designed to travel to remote and challenging locations, meaning the structural integrity had to be meticulously engineered to withstand extreme environmental conditions while maintaining efficiency and range.
The Arksen 85 is an aluminium vessel, requiring a fine balance between strength and weight to achieve its long-range performance. Chartwell Marine’s expertise in lightweight structural design ensured that all critical components—such as stabilizer fins, multiple crane bases, davits, and deck fittings—were seamlessly integrated without compromising the yacht’s weight, stability, or performance. Our approach enabled the vessel to maintain its long-range capability, a crucial factor for an explorer yacht designed for extended journeys to remote regions.
