Survey / Fishing

Developed to meet the demands of the UK fishing industry as the current fleet moves into retirement the Chartwell Marine Survey/Fishing vessel is a a true multi-role vessel. It is developed to meet the demands of shallow water survey work, dive support, fishing, and general workboat operations.

It features a low wash waterplane hull form which can be used for a variety of maritime operations including shallow water survey work, alongside fishing and dive support. It was developed in response to the demand from operators for a semi-modular catamaran hull form to offer a large stable platform in a small a package.

The hull also features sufficient buoyancy to allow for the carriage of significant payloads.

The vessel range is available in multiple hull sizes – 10m, 12m and 19m – enabling use in a wide variety of applications, such as offshore energy, port infrastructure and scientific expeditions. These vessels, with shallow draught capabilities, are critical for port maintenance and expansion.

Most channels in ports are dredged to a depth of 5 or 6 meters – but must be surveyed before initial dredging and for maintenance. When sediment and particle deposition fill these port channels, operating depths are severely reduced.

This vessel can operate in waters of 1.5 meters – a parameter that could only be met with limited current market offerings.

More widely, shallow draft vessels are especially vital for cable transfers to beaches and UXO (unexploded ordinance) surveys – the North Sea requires significant amounts of both, in many cases very close to shore.
